A tradition started in Team India from the ICC World Cup 2023 and the one who started it is Team India’s fielding coach T. Dilip. During the World Cup, the best fielder is selected after every match and in bilateral series, the Fielder of the Series is selected after the end of every series. This tradition continued even after the India vs Sri Lanka T20 series and T Dilip nominated three players for this Fielder of the Series medal. The interesting thing is that the names of all three of them start with R. Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag and Ravi Bishnoi were nominated for this medal. Former Netherlands cricketer Ryan Deschote is also a part of Team India’s coaching staff and he announced the name of the winner of this medal.
This medal was won by Rinku Singh. Rinku Singh has not been able to do anything special with the bat for some time, but he is definitely compensating for it with his fielding and bowling. This T20 International series against Sri Lanka was very special for Team India in many ways. After the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, this series was seen as the beginning of a new era for Team India in this format.

Veteran players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja have called it a day of retirement from T20 International. After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title, all three of them announced their retirement from this format.
