After 12 deaths, Chief Minister Hemant Soren issued 2 big orders on constable recruitment in Jharkhand

Amid the incidents of death of some candidates in the ongoing Excise Constable Recruitment Race in Jharkhand, CM Hemant Soren has issued a big order. According to the PTI report, the CM has issued instructions to stop the recruitment campaign for 3 days. It has also been ordered that the physical test of the candidates will not be taken after 9 am. Along with this, CM Hemant Soren expressed grief over the death of some candidates during the recruitment race. He said that the untimely death of the candidates during the Excise Constable Recruitment Campaign is sad and heartbreaking.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said in a post on Excise, I have issued instructions to stop the ongoing campaign for Excise Constable recruitment for the next 3 days. Now the physical test will not be held after 9 am. This instruction has been given in view of the death of some candidates involved in the physical test. A committee of health experts has been formed to find out the reasons behind the deaths. The panel will submit its report soon. The CM described the death of the candidates as heart-wrenching and said that instructions have also been issued for immediate review of the rules made by the previous government.

It is worth noting that the CM’s order has come at a time when the BJP is attacking the government fiercely over the incidents of death of candidates. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that the BJP will request the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to investigate the incidents of death of candidates during the recruitment drive in Jharkhand. According to a PTI Bhasha report, Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that 15 candidates lost their lives during the physical test for the post of excise constable due to ‘extreme heat’ in Jharkhand.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that the Hemant Soren government should immediately postpone the physical test conducted for the recruitment of Excise Constable till September 15. The Hemant Soren government should give Rs 50 lakh to the family of every candidate who lost his life and a government job to one dependent. If the Hemant Soren government fails to do so, then the BJP will provide jobs to one member of each family of the youth who lost their lives after coming to power in the state.

Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that the state government forced the candidates to participate in the race without making proper arrangements and conducting medical tests. The youth ran in greed for jobs and some of them even lost their lives. The government is linking the deaths of the youth to the Covid pandemic and its vaccine. After Corona, CRPF, BSF, Agni Veer were recruited across the country but no complaint of death was received from anywhere. According to Jharkhand Police, so far 12 candidates have lost their lives during this recruitment race, while the state Health Minister Banna Gupta has put the death toll at only four.
