While speaking to the media in her constituency Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut has once again sparked controversy by making a statement on the three agricultural laws that have been withdrawn. She said that the government should repeal the three controversial agricultural laws, which were withdrawn after a long protest by the farmers. Now Kangana’s statement has once again been distanced by her party. Also, her statement has been condemned.
Kangana Ranaut said, “I know this statement may be controversial, but all three agricultural laws were in the interest of farmers and should be re-implemented. Farmers themselves should support it.” However, on this statement of Kangana, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia clarified that this is her personal statement and does not represent the opinion of the party. Bhatia released a video and said, “BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s statement on the agricultural bills withdrawn by the central government is going viral on social media platforms. I want to make it clear that this statement is her personal statement. Kangana Ranaut is not authorized to make such a statement on behalf of the BJP and it does not reflect the BJP’s view on agricultural bills. We condemn this statement.”
Congress strongly criticized Kangana’s statement. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet, pointing to the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, said, “More than 750 farmers were martyred while protesting against the three black laws. Efforts are being made to implement them again, but we will never let this happen. Haryana will give the first answer to this.”
Aam Aadmi Party MP Malvinder Singh Kang also took a dig at Kangana’s statement and said, “I feel sorry for PM Modi. He had said that he was unable to understand the concerns of the farmers and that is why the laws were withdrawn. Now it seems that either Kangana is challenging PM Modi or the Prime Minister has become helpless. Only BJP can answer this.” This is not the first time that Kangana Ranaut has made a controversial statement on farmers’ issues. Earlier also, she had accused the farmers’ movement of “creating a Bangladesh-like situation in India” and claimed that incidents like violence and rape were taking place at the protest sites. However, even then the BJP distanced itself from Kangana’s statement and advised the MP.
