BSNL to Give Competition to Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel With 1300GB Data Plan for Rs 333 Per Month

The number of subscribers of government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has increased in the last few months. One of the main reasons behind this is the expensive tariff plans of private telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. BSNL has presented a new challenge for private telecom companies. The company has introduced a plan with 1,300 GB data per month for Rs 333.

However, the company’s new tariff plan will not be available in Delhi and Mumbai. In BSNL’s new ‘Winter Bonanza’ offer, subscribers will have to pay Rs 1,999 for six months of Bharat Fiber broadband service. This plan includes 1,300 GB of data each month at speeds up to 25 Mbps. Once this data limit is reached, subscribers will get internet access at a reduced speed of 4 Mbps. In this plan, apart from data, unlimited calls can also be made using the landline. BSNL has also launched a separate plan of Rs 599 for mobile users. It will provide 3 GB high-speed data every day for 84 days. Apart from this, unlimited calls and 100 text messages can also be made per day.

In the last few months, BSNL has expanded its 4G network rapidly. By the end of October this year, the company had installed more than 50,700 4G sites. Of these, more than 41,950 sites are functional. Recently, Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar had told in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha that the 4G equipment the company is using can be upgraded to 5G. The supply of 4G equipment to BSNL started in September last year under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign. As of October, the company had installed 50,708 4G sites and 41,957 sites are operational.

BSNL’s net loss has come down to about Rs 2,785 crore in the first half of the current financial year. In the same quarter of the last financial year, this loss was about Rs 2,951 crore. BSNL’s revenue from operations in the first half of the current financial year has increased by about 10.4 percent on year-on-year basis to about Rs 9,235 crore. The company has registered growth in revenue from all its segments including consumer mobility.
