The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest rankings of Test players on Wednesday. India’s fast pacer Jasprit Bumrah has again become the number one test bowler. He currently has 870 marks. He moved up one place and overtook veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. He is at second place with 869 ratings. Both of them performed brilliantly in the recent Test series against Bangladesh and took 11 wickets each. Bumrah took 6 wickets and Ashwin took 5 wickets in the Kanpur Test. Ashwin was chosen Player of the Series. Apart from taking 6 wickets, he scored a century in the first match.
Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan (up four places to 18th) and veteran spinner Shakib Al Hasan (up five places to 28th) have improved their rankings. Sri Lankan spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya (801) achieved the highest rating of his career. He is jointly at number nine. He performed brilliantly in the test series against New Zealand. He took 18 wickets and won the Player of the Series award.
At the same time, in the list of batsmen, India’s star cricketer Virat Kohli has returned to the top-10. Kohli has jumped six places. He is at sixth position with 724 marks. He scored 47 runs in the first innings of Kanpur Test and 27 not out in the second innings. He was out of the top-10 after his poor performance in the Chennai Test. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (792) also had fun. Yashasvi has moved up two places and reached the third position.
Yashasvi became the player of the match in Kanpur. He scored two half-centuries in both the innings. Yashasvi scored a total of 189 runs in the Bangladesh series. England’s legendary batsman Joe Root (899) is at the top. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson (820) is at the position. Captain Rohit Sharma (693) has suffered a loss of five places. He has slipped to number 15. Rohit, popularly known as ‘Hitman’, could score only 42 runs in two test matches against Bangladesh.
