An encounter is going on between security forces and terrorists in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. According to reports, the area has been cordoned off and search operation is underway. Officials said that firing started at Khushal post in Tangdhar area near the Line of Control. They said that there is no report of any casualty so far. They said that detailed information about the incident is awaited.
Terrorist hideout busted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, six grenades seized
Ahead of the assembly elections, security forces on Wednesday busted a terrorist hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district and recovered six hand grenades. Officials said the hideout was busted by a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles in the Dachin Top area of Sindhra in the Lower Krishna Valley sector. They said a search operation was launched in the area based on specific information and was continuing till last information was received.
A day earlier, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district achieved a major success by foiling a terrorist plot and arresting three associates of terrorists and recovering arms and ammunition from them. Police said on Tuesday that the three have been identified as Umaik Mushtaq Zargar, resident of Karewa Colony Bijbehara, Ishfaq Ahmed Dar of Dar Mohalla Arwani and Shahid Ahmed Gadhanji, resident of Dar Mohalla Arwani.
Their arrest has dealt a major blow to terrorist activities in the district. One pistol, two pistol magazines, 23 pistol rounds and two grenades were recovered from them. These arrests were made during a naka checking by a joint team of police along with Army and CRPF in Wopjan area.
