IMD Delhi-NCR Monsoon Rain Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to light rain and thunderstorms with lightning in the national capital Delhi, NCR and adjoining states within the next two to three hours. IMD has said in its latest bulletin that Delhi-NCR is cloudy since this morning and light to moderate rain is likely in Delhi’s Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Burari, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Azadpur, Pitampura, Dilshad Garden within the next two to three hours. IMD has said that during this time strong winds may also blow and lightning may also strike at some places.

IMD has predicted moderate rains in Greater Noida, Meerut, Pilkhua, Hapur, Khekra, Modinagar, Baraut, Baghpat, Garhmukteshwar, Khatauli, Sakauti Tanda, Aligarh and Anupshahr in UP adjoining Delhi as well as Gurugram, Manesar, Gohana, Ganaur, Sonepat, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Narnaul in Haryana. Rains have also been predicted in many areas of Rajasthan in the latest IMD bulletin. The latest bulletin said that areas of Rajasthan adjoining Haryana and UP may also receive rain during the next three hours.

IMD has said that at present the monsoon trough is extending southeastwards from Jaisalmer, Kota in Rajasthan, Guna, Damoh in Madhya Pradesh and Sambalpur and Puri in Chhattisgarh and Odisha to the East Central Bay of Bengal. Apart from this, a low pressure area is formed over eastern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh, with which cyclonic circulation is formed. According to IMD, a low pressure center is also formed on the South Gujarat-Kerala coast and a cyclonic system is also active over northeastern Assam. Due to these seasonal and geographical conditions, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many parts of the country.

According to the IMD, due to the low pressure area formed in northern Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas, heavy rains are expected in various parts of Odisha for the next four days. The IMD said, “The low pressure area formed in northern Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas is moving towards eastern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh. Due to this, torrential rains are expected in the next four days.” The IMD has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for several districts like Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Kendrapara for Tuesday, predicting heavy to very heavy rains.

The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in some parts of Gujarat, Konkan-Goa, Maharashtra and eastern Rajasthan for the next two days. For this, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert. Apart from this, heavy rains are expected in some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and coastal Karnataka on 23 July.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rain is expected over Sikkim and Northeast India, western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, western UP, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Odisha over the next two days. IMD has forecast light rain over Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, western parts of Rajasthan, interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep.

On the other hand, it rained in various places of Uttarakhand on Monday as well, while the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in Dehradun on Tuesday, in view of which the administration has ordered to keep all schools across the district closed as a precautionary measure. According to the information received from the Dehradun Meteorological Center, 52 mm of rain was recorded in Dehradun while 98 mm rain was recorded in Laksar of Haridwar district.
