Founder of Jan Suraj Abhiyan, Prashant Kishore has announced the formation of Jan Suraj Party and the name of the first leader of the party, Manoj Bharti. Prashant Kishor announced the name of acting president of Jan Suraj Party, Manoj Bharti, who is a resident of Madhubani and comes from Dalit caste, at the Veterinary College grounds in Patna. Acting President Manoj Bharti is a retired Indian Foreign Service officer. Prashant Kishore has said that the new president will be elected by March next year. There was already discussion that Prashant Kishor could make a Dalit the president of the party. Manoj Bharti is a resident of Madhubani. After schooling from Jamui and Netarhat, Manoj studied from IIT. Manoj Bharti, who later became an IFS officer, has been ambassador to many countries.
While announcing the name of Manoj Bharti, Prashant Kishor said that when he said that he will not become a leader, people said how will they find a person as capable as you. Prashant said that Manoj Bharti is more capable than us. Prashant Kishore did not go to IIT, Manoj Bharti went. Prashant Kishore did not become IFS, Manoj Bharti remained IFS. While talking to the media, PK had taken the names of state presidents of major parties and said that when the name of their president comes out, everyone will be shocked. Prashant had said that everyone will be proud if his party president is compared with other presidents.
Before forming the party, Prashant Kishore had a long conversation with the media on Sunday and had said that his party will contest all 243 seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He had said that there will be a provision for the right to recall in the constitution of his party. Jan Suraj Party will field and give ticket only to that candidate in the Assembly elections who will sign an affidavit of his consent to the Right to Recall. Prashant had said that if one-third of the founder members of Jan Suraj express no confidence in the area of MLAs won by his party, then voting will be conducted there and if the confidence of the founding members is not achieved in the voting, then he will have to resign.
Many former bureaucrats have joined Prashant Kishor during his Jan Suraj Padyatra. Many leaders who were sidelined in other parties have joined Jan Suraj in recent times, which include names like Devendra Prasad Yadav, Monajir Hasan, Purnamasi Ram, Sitaram Yadav, Vineeta Vijay. There is a discussion that before the elections, many IAS and IPS officers working on important posts in Bihar and other states can join Jan Suraj Party after retirement and contest the elections.
