According to media reports, 4 people have died due to heavy rains in Mumbai. These include two women. It is reported that a 45-year-old woman died after falling into a drain in Andheri East. At the same time, 2 people working in a stone quarry in Kalyan lost their lives. Apart from these, a woman also died due to drowning in Zenith Waterfall.
How will the weather be in Mumbai today
In the forecast released by the Meteorological Department on Wednesday, it has been told that there is a possibility of rain in Mumbai and nearby suburban areas for 48 hours. During this time, strong winds can also blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour. On the other hand, the maximum temperature on Thursday can be 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be 23 degrees Celsius.
Red alert issued
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for Mumbai and its neighbouring districts on Wednesday evening and has forecast ‘extremely heavy rainfall’. Rain has been continuing in many parts of the city since afternoon.
A municipal official said the IMD has changed the ‘orange alert’ to ‘red alert’ for the country’s financial capital, which has been issued till 8.30 am on Thursday.
14 flights were diverted
Due to heavy rains, 14 flights arriving at the airport here on Wednesday had to be diverted and landed at other airports, an airport official said. Of these, nine were IndiGo flights, which were not allowed to land in the city due to bad weather, the official said.
Other flights that the Aviation Traffic Control (ATC) directed to land at other airports included two Vistara flights and one each of Air India, Akasa and Gulf Air.
The official said that after the route change, seven flights were directed to land in Hyderabad, four in Ahmedabad, two at Goa’s Mopa airport and one in Udaipur.
