Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 were launched on Wednesday. The book and clamshell-style foldable phones were announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event, where the company also launched its latest-gen TWS earbuds and Galaxy Watches. The company said that both foldables support Galaxy AI features as well as Google’s Circle to Search feature and Gemini AI chatbot. They are powered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform for Galaxy. According to Samsung, both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will get seven years of Android OS and security updates.

The company says that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be sold in Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow colour options, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be available in Blue, Mint, Silver Shadow, and Yellow colourways. Customers ordering the handset from Samsung’s online store will also get access to crafted black and white custom Galaxy Z Fold 6 colour options, while the Galaxy Z FLip 6 will also be sold in an online-exclusive peach colourway.

Pre-orders for both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 are open and the company says the handsets will be available starting July 24.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a dual-SIM (Nano or Nano+eSIM) handset that runs Samsung One UI 6.1.1 skin based on Android 14. It is powered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset built for Qualcomm’s Galaxy mobile platform, paired with up to 12GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6’s external screen is a 6.3-inch HD+ (968×2,376 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 410ppi pixel density. On the inside, it has a 7.6-inch QXGA+ (1,856×2,160 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with 374ppi pixel density. Both panels get an adaptive refresh rate that automatically adjusts between 1Hz and 120Hz.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera with dual pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS) and f / 1.8 aperture, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle with f / 2.2 aperture and 123-degree field-of-view, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. At the same time, there is a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the cover display with f / 2.2 aperture and a 4-megapixel camera under the internal screen with f / 2.8 aperture.

There is up to 1TB of storage on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the handset offers 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC connectivity. The foldable phone is equipped with an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, e-compass, hall sensor, proximity sensor, and an ambient light sensor.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 4,400mAh battery that can be charged at 25W with Samsung’s wired charger that is sold separately. It also supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare for charging accessories.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. The smartphone also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. It measures 153.5×68.1×12.1 mm when folded, 153.5×132.6×5.6 mm when unfolded and weighs 239 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 also runs on One UI 6.1.1. It also offers dual-SIM connectivity and is powered by the same Snapdragon chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

The cover screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a 3.4-inch (720×748 pixels) Super AMOLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and 306ppi pixel density. On the inside, it has a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,640 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with a refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz.

On the outside, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is equipped with a 50-megapixel wide angle camera with Dual Pixel Autofocus, OIS, and f/1.8 aperture, as well as a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the internal display, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a 10-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 also comes equipped with the same connectivity features and sensors as the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It packs a smaller 4,000mAh battery with the same charging specifications as its bigger sibling. The handset has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. According to the company, it measures 85.1×71.9×14.9 mm when folded, 165.1×71.9×6.9 mm when unfolded, and weighs 187 grams.
