Bangladesh team’s veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has announced his retirement from Test cricket. However, his retirement is not with immediate effect. However, he has announced his retirement from T20 International cricket with immediate effect. Shakib Al Hasan will play against India in the second Test match to be played in Kanpur from tomorrow i.e. Friday 27 September. After this, he is going to play one more series in Test cricket for Bangladesh and then he will say goodbye to red ball cricket.
Shakib Al Hasan has revealed that the upcoming home Test series against South Africa will be his last series in this format. Apart from this announcement, the experienced all-rounder also announced his retirement from T20 international cricket with immediate effect before the Kanpur Test match. Shakib was addressing the media in Kanpur ahead of the second Test against India. During this, he informed about his retirement. South Africa is scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a two-match Test series in mid-October.
Kanpur test may also be the last
According to Cricbuzz, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Thursday announced that he has expressed his desire to retire from Test cricket to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) with the end of the home series against South Africa in Mirpur next month. However, it depends on whether the legendary all-rounder gets security clearance to play in that series. If Shakib is unable to play in that Test, then the Kanpur Test against India starting on September 27 could be his last Test for Bangladesh.
This left-handed batsman has retired from T20 International cricket with immediate effect, which means that when Bangladesh team will play a three-match T20 series against India after this Test series, he will not be available for selection in it. Bangladesh team is yet to be announced for the T20 series. Shakib Al Hasan can be seen playing in ODI International cricket till February-March, because next year ICC Champions Trophy is to be held in Pakistan, in which he is going to play as an all-rounder.

Shakib Al Hasan has played 129 matches for Bangladesh in T20 International cricket, in which he has remained unbeaten 16 times in 126 innings and has managed to score a total of 2551 runs. His best score is 84 runs and his average is 23.19. He has scored runs at a strike rate of 121.25, which includes 13 half-centuries. Shakib has taken 149 wickets in bowling. In Test cricket, Shakib has 242 wickets in 70 matches and as a batsman, he has scored 4600 runs in Test cricket, which includes 5 centuries and 31 half-centuries. He has also scored a double century.
