Sheikh Hasina flew away in a helicopter, now give us shelter too; Bangladeshi leaders are appealing to India

Sheikh Hasina, who has been running the government in Bangladesh for the last 15 years, resigned from the post of PM on Monday and then came to India via helicopter. Currently, she is in India and is waiting to go to Britain from here. After getting approval for political asylum from Britain, she would like to go and live in London. In this way, Sheikh Hasina has come to India somehow after escaping the chaos in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, attacks on the houses of the leaders of her party Awami League are continuing in Bangladesh. The situation is so dire that these leaders are running around and are struggling to save their lives.

Now these leaders have also appealed to India for asylum. India has put the 4,096 kilometer long border on high alert and deployed additional forces. Meanwhile, many senior leaders of Awami League, former Union Ministers and others have appealed to India to allow them to enter the border through land route. The situation is so dire that the house of Sheikh Hasina’s party MP and former cricketer Mashrafe Murtaza was burnt by miscreants. Apart from this, the house of a mayor was also burnt, in which three people were burnt alive inside. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of fear among the leaders who were part of the Sheikh Hasina government. These leaders are now pleading for asylum from India.

Many leaders do not have visa, but want to enter India

The problem is that many of these leaders do not even have visas and passports through which they can come to Delhi. India has had good relations with the leaders of Awami League. India had also helped during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. That movement was led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who has been given the title of Bangabandhu. The problem faced by Bangladeshi leaders is that the airport of Dhaka is closed and regular flights are also halted. In such a situation, these people have only one option, that is to enter India through the borders of Tripura and Bengal.

The former home minister’s house was burnt down and the general secretary went missing

It is an old history in Bangladesh that after the coup, the leaders who were in power before were chased out and killed. In such a situation, after the exit of Sheikh Hasina, the rest of the leaders also want to take shelter somewhere safe. The house of Asaduzzaman Kamal, who was the Home Minister in the Sheikh Hasina government, was vandalized. Apart from this, Awami League General Secretary Abdul Kader is missing. No information has been received about him since Sunday. At present, the Awami League leaders are not able to contact each other and are trying to save their lives somehow.
