The court has declared former minister Swami Prasad Maurya and his daughter former MP Sanghamitra Maurya as fugitives. Along with the two, three other people have also been declared fugitives in the same manner. The case is related to Sanghamitra Maurya’s marriage. Special ACJM Alok Verma of MPMLA court has taken this strict step after she did not appear despite several warrants issued by the court in the case of second marriage without divorce. The court has fixed August 27 as the next date for hearing the case.
All the accused are also accused of assault, abuse, threat to life and property and conspiracy. For not appearing in the court, the special court has ordered action against Swami Prasad Maurya, Neeraj Tiwari, Suryaprakash Shukla alias Chintu and Hrithik Singh under Section 82 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and has also ordered them to be declared absconding.
Sanghamitra had declared herself unmarried in the affidavit
The court said in its order that the accused are avoiding appearing in court, hence action under section 82 is taken against them. It is alleged in the complaint that the complainant Deepak Kumar and Sanghamitra were living together since 2016. It was said that Sanghamitra and her father Swami Prasad Maurya told the complainant that Sanghamitra has been divorced from her previous marriage. On this, the complainant married Sanghamitra at her house on January 3, 2019.
The same Sanghamitra declared herself unmarried by giving affidavit in the 2019 elections, while later the plaintiff came to know that Sanghamitra was divorced in May 2021. It was further said that when the plaintiff asked for marriage as per the law in the year 2021, the accused Swami Prasad Maurya got the other accused to attack the plaintiff several times at various places. A case was also registered in this matter.
