Tesla Recalls 9100 Model

Tesla has recalled about 9,100 Model X EV models in the US. The reason for this is said to be the risk of the trim on the roof of the EV becoming detached. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that pieces of the front and center roof cosmetic trim of the Model X may have been glued without a primer, which increases the possibility of them separating from the vehicle and in such a situation, the risk of accidents on the road may increase.

news agency Reuters (via HT AutoAccording to a report by ), Tesla has recalled 9,100 of its Model X units following a warning from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This decision has been taken due to the possibility of pieces of the front and center roof cosmetic trim becoming detached from the vehicle. The administration fears that these pieces may detach when the vehicle is on the road, increasing the risk of accidents.

The recall involves 2016 model year Model X SUVs. The report states that Tesla has said that the procedure was changed by the supplier in July 2016 to prevent the problem in later models. The company has said that it will test the glue of the roof trim of the recalled units and will return the vehicles with the trim pieces reattached at no cost to the vehicle owners.

The company had been studying this since 2020 and concluded that the 2020 recall remedy was not strong enough to detect cosmetic roof trim pieces that could separate due to the lack of primer. According to the report, Tesla said it is aware of about 170 reports and claims that may be related to the issue, but said it has no reports of accidents or injuries linked to the recall issues.

Tesla recalled nearly 2.6 million vehicles over safety concerns in the first six months of the year, according to recall management platform developer BizziCar.
