Aam Aadmi Party has given an open challenge to Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. Delhi government minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has challenged LG for a debate on the issue of cutting trees in Delhi. Saurabh Bhardwaj said, LG sahab, I am inviting you in front of the media. Come and debate with me. Don’t hide. The matter is related to the cutting of 1100 trees in Delhi’s Ridge area.
While demanding the resignation of LG, he said, “Don’t hide behind the walls of LG House. You misled Delhi and the court and you got caught.” Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “They got the trees cut deliberately. They thought that all the officers are in our pocket and who will do what?” Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “Chief Secretary, Divisional Commissioner, PWD Secretary, Forest Secretary and DDA officers were all with LG. No one dared to tell LG that cutting such trees is illegal.” He said, “LG should resign now.”
There was no immediate response from the Lieutenant Governor’s office. Addressing a press conference, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said the affidavit filed by the contractor involved in the project shows that permission to cut trees was issued by the Lieutenant Governor.
He claimed, “In the affidavit filed by the contractor, it is stated that in the email sent from DDA (Delhi Development Authority) it was stated that permission to remove the trees obstructing the road has been given by the Lieutenant Governor.” Bhardwaj said that the email has exposed the Lieutenant Governor. The minister said, he should immediately tender his resignation. I challenge him to reveal the truth.
