The Bombay High Court again heard the case on Thursday regarding the ban on the release of Kangana Ranaut’s much-discussed film Emergency. During this, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) said that Kangana Ranaut’s film can be released. Before this, some cuts will have to be made in the film, which were suggested by the censor board’s review committee. The board said this in front of a bench of Justice BP Colabawala and Justice Firdaus Poniwala. In this regard, the film production company Zee Studios said that it will consider this matter by Monday. Zee said that we will take information about which cuts can be made.
Now the court will hear this case next week. Zee Studios had filed an application in the court and demanded that it order that the censor board issue a certificate to it. There were allegations against this film that the Sikh community has been shown in a wrong way. After this, when the controversy increased, the censor board put the release on hold. Zee Studios had said in the court that we had filed our application before the Film Certification Board on 29 August itself. But till now we have not received the censor certificate from the board.
Earlier, the court had said that on September 4, we had asked the Central Board of Film Certification to consider the objections of Jabalpur Sikh Sangat and other parties and then issue the certificate. Even after this, no decision has been taken so far. After this, the court had asked the board to take a decision by September 25, but even then the matter kept getting postponed. Now the board told the court regarding the release that after the suggested cuts, the film can be released in cinemas. In this film, Kangana Ranaut has played the role of former PM Indira Gandhi and the central point of this film is the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975.
