Wayanad Landslides:

Landslide incidents have been reported in Wayanad district of Kerala. These incidents have taken place in some hilly areas of Meppadi in Wayanad. Hundreds of people are feared to be trapped in the accident that happened early on Tuesday morning. The Kerala government has come into action regarding this matter. Chief Minister P Vijayan said that all government agencies have been engaged in the rescue operation. According to the local people, the situation may worsen. At the same time, the teams engaged in rescue work are facing problems due to continuous heavy rains. Despite this, the teams are working hard to save people.

Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) said that fire force and National Disaster Response Force teams have been deployed in the affected areas. Apart from this, an additional NDRF team has been deployed to evacuate people. At the same time, two teams of Kannur Defense Corps have also been instructed. These teams have been asked to move towards Wayanad and help in the rescue work. KSDMA has also posted about this on Facebook.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for Malappuram and Kannur districts of Kerala during the next 3 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been warned at isolated places over Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts of Kerala during the next 3 hours.
Apart from this, there is also a warning of strong winds blowing at a speed of 50 km per hour. The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate rain at isolated places in all other districts.
