Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande, a dashing and popular officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) who has been awarded with titles ranging from Supercop to Singham in Bihar Police, has resigned. Shivdeep Lande, posted as IG of Purnia Range, has sent his resignation to the state government by e-mail and may remain in his post until his resignation is approved. It is being discussed that Shivdeep Lande may contest the 2025 assembly elections from any assembly seat in Patna city on the ticket of a party emerging from Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Abhiyan. PK’s party is to be announced on Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October.
Shivdeep Lande is a 2006 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre and has been famous for his tough image during his posting as SP in many districts. He announced his resignation on the social media site Facebook on Thursday afternoon. In a Facebook post with a photo of him saluting the tricolor, Lande wrote – “My dear Bihar, after serving in a government post for the last 18 years, today I have resigned from this post. In all these years, I have considered Bihar above myself and my family. If I have committed any mistake during my tenure as a government servant, then I apologize for that.”
Shivdeep Lande wrote in the post that he has resigned from today but he will stay in Bihar and Bihar will remain his karmabhoomi in future too. Talking to the media in Purnia, Lande said that he has resigned due to personal reasons. Lande’s Facebook post clearly indicates that he is not returning to his home district Akola or home state Maharashtra but will stay in Bihar. There is a strong buzz that he will join the party being formed on October 2 after Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Padyatra and will also contest the assembly elections from a seat in Patna city.
Anand Mishra, who had quit his IPS job some time ago and contested the Buxar Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate and lost, is also associated with Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj. If Lande joins Jan Suraj after 2011 batch officer Anand Mishra, he will be the second senior IPS officer to quit his job and join Prashant Kishor’s party.
