Zomato Offers Canceled Orders Food on Discount through Food Rescue Feature

Zomato has launched a new feature for its users in India, through which it aims to reduce food wastage caused by canceled orders. This feature, called Food Rescue, allows users to get canceled orders from nearby restaurants through others at affordable prices for a limited time. The food delivery platform says customers will receive orders in less time and in tamper-proof packaging. The thing to note is that only some selected food products will be included in this service, it will not include ice cream or shake etc.

Zomato’s food rescue feature

a blog Post Zomato has announced that recently canceled orders will be visible on the app for customers within 3 kilometers of the delivery partner. Orders will only be available to Clams customers for a few minutes. Whereas the original customer (who has placed and canceled the order) as well as the people around him will not be able to get that respective order. If payment for the canceled order has already been made online, the amount paid by the new customer will be shared between him and the restaurant partner. Zomato says that only the necessary government taxes will be kept from the platform charges.

According to the food delivery platform, 99.9 percent of its restaurant partners want to sign up for this feature. With Food Rescue they will get compensation for the canceled orders and also a small portion of the amount paid by that customer. Zomato says that apart from this, delivery partners will also be given full compensation for the entire journey.

To prevent misuse of this feature, the genuine customer will have to pay a cancellation charge which is 100% of the total amount for canceling the order. Zomato has clarified that perishable items like ice cream, shake, smoothie and other perishable items due to distance or temperature will not be visible on this feature. Whereas customers who like vegetarian food will not see non-vegetarian orders.
