Pune Weather: Pune in Maharashtra is facing the havoc of rain (Pune Rain News). It is reported that heavy rains have been continuing in the city for two days. During this time, people are facing waterlogging, landslides and floods. The situation has come to such a pass that the administration has advised the public to go out only if there is urgent work. The collector has declared a holiday for schools on Thursday in Pune City, Pimpri Chinchwad and western parts of the district.

The district administration has said that in the last 24 hours, Lonavala has received 299 mm of rain, Lavasa 417 mm, Junnar 214 mm of rain. Shivajinagar has received 101 mm of rain, Chinchwad City has received 156 mm of rain. Here, due to the increase in the water level of the dam due to heavy rains, the irrigation department has released more than 35 thousand cusecs of water from Khadakvasla Dam.

Due to this, housing societies on Sinhagad Road have been submerged. PMC has said that at least 4 housing societies in Ekta Nagari area are flooded, due to which people have had to leave the society. At present, relief work is going on. The road has been blocked due to a tree falling at Bhavani Peth and there are reports of boundary wall collapse in Vadgaon Budruk.

School closed
Pune District Collector Suhas Divase has declared a holiday in all primary and secondary schools in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Maval, Mulshi, Bhor Velha, Khed, Ambegaon, Junnar Haveli. He said, ‘We have deployed fire brigade and task force in low-lying areas. People are being advised not to step out of their homes unless there is some urgent work.’

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said about the rain in Pune, ‘Every possible help is being provided to the people stranded at different places due to floods. If needed, we will also airlift people. NDRF has been pressed into service. Whereas, the army is on standby mode.’ Apart from Pune, holiday has also been declared in Waril tehsil of Raigad district.

Another lake overflows in Mumbai
Following heavy rains in the last few days, another lake Tansa, which supplies water to Mumbai, was completely filled on Wednesday, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said. The reservoir managed by the BMC is one of the seven sources of drinking water for the metropolis and is located in the adjoining Thane district. According to the BMC’s hydraulic engineering department, the lake, with a total capacity of 1450.8 crore litres, was completely filled at 4:16 pm, an official said. Tansa is the second lake to ‘overflow’ after Tulsi on July 20.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains may occur at some places in Madhya Pradesh till July 25, Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra till July 27, Gujarat on July 26 and 27, Marathwada, Vidarbha till July 25, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan till July 29, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, South East Uttar Pradesh till July 25, West Uttar Pradesh till July 27.
