JDU has also openly supported this bill. JDU MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said that wrong arguments are being given here. Here the example of temple and Gurudwara is being given. You are not understanding. Temple and Gurudwara are religious places. But Waqf Board is an institution. This is not a religious place. Even if the government does not interfere in religion, but if there is corruption in any institution, then why can’t the government interfere. You talk about minorities, then in whose era did the Sikhs get killed? After all, which Sikh taxi driver killed Indira Gandhi? But in your era, Sikhs were hunted down and killed. Thousands of people were killed. We are witnesses to this.
There was a lot of uproar in the House during Lalan Singh’s speech. Sources say that BJP has got assurance of support from allies like TDP, JDU on this bill. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena also supported this bill. Supporting the bill, Shrikant Shinde said that those who are politicizing it should understand that only one law will work in this country. Why do some people want a different law? This bill has only one purpose – transparency and accountability. He said that the opposition people are spreading confusion here.
Shiv Sena also strongly supported Eknath Shinde
Shinde said that when these people were in power, they had appointed administrators in the temples of Maharashtra. At that time, they did not pay attention to secularism. Now when there is talk of implementing a law in the country, then what is the problem? In this bill, the government has also talked about giving representation to Muslim women. Similarly, when Shah Bano got justice from the court in 1986, these people snatched it away. Eknath Shinde said that more than 85 thousand cases are going on on Waqf properties. It is at number three in terms of the institutions having the most land in the country. We want that good schools, colleges and hospitals etc. should be built on these lands.
YSR Congress opposes the bill, a blow to the government
However, YSR Congress, which has supported the government in many matters, has opposed this bill. The party MP said that we agree with the concerns being raised in this matter. We also agree with what Asaduddin Owaisi has said. So far, the stand of BJD has not come out whether it will support this bill or oppose it.
