Now the Modi government’s ally JDU has started joining the opposition regarding Israel. A senior JDU official, supporting the Congress, Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party, has said that the central government should immediately stop aiding Israel. He said that the Indian government is supplying weapons to Israel, which is killing innocent Palestinians, which should be stopped immediately. He said that India cannot support Israel in the genocide of Palestinians.
A meeting was organized by Al Guds general secretary Mohammad Makram Balawi in New Delhi. JDU general secretary KC Tyagi and Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Javed Ali Khan also attended it. Apart from Tyagi and Khan, Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha MP Mohibullah Nadvi and former MP Mohammad Adeeb, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh, Pankaj Pushkar, Congress spokesperson Mim Afzal and former Lok Sabha MP Kunwar Danish Ali also signed the statement.
The statement said, we condemn the atrocities and genocide being committed by Israel on Palestinians. Such atrocities are against humanity and also violate international laws. In such a situation, the central government is requested to stop the supply of weapons to Israel. As a nation, we always advocate humanity and cannot be involved in genocide like this.
Citing the example of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it has been said that we were among those countries which, apart from Arab countries, first recognised Palestine in 1988. In such a situation, it is our duty to protect the self-respect, sovereignty and independence of Palestinians. We stand with the Palestinians in this difficult time. It is our duty to find a path to peace.
Let us tell you that in October, Hamas attacked Israel and killed about 1200 people. Since then Israel has been wreaking havoc in Gaza. India’s stance on this matter has been quite balanced. India has also condemned Hamas and has also criticized the genocide taking place in Gaza citing human rights. India had distanced itself from the voting in the United Nations General Assembly on the war between Israel and Hamas.
According to the Indian Express report, KC Tyagi said that he has been supporting Palestine since the time of Janata Party. The Government of India, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also supported Palestine. We want the atrocities on the elderly, children, women and innocents in Gaza to stop. Two Congress leaders also signed this statement. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has criticized Benjamin Netanyahu many times before.
