Haryana Assembly Election: In the Haryana Assembly elections too, Congress is in the mood to contest the elections in alliance with Aam Aadmi Party. Although, nothing has been said officially about this, but there are reports that MP Rahul Gandhi wants to form an alliance with AAP. It is being said that he has also talked to the Congress leaders of Haryana in this regard. Earlier, AAP and Congress have contested together in many areas including Delhi, Chandigarh.
India Today’s report quoted sources as saying that Rahul Gandhi wants to form an alliance with Congress for the Haryana assembly elections. According to the report, sources have said that during the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting, he also asked the Haryana Congress leaders for their opinion on the possibilities of an alliance with AAP. However, till now nothing has been said officially by the Congress on this.
Denial of senior leaders of Haryana Congress
Earlier, during an interview, senior Congress leader and MP Kumari Selja had ruled out the possibility of an alliance with AAP in the Haryana assembly elections. Selja said that Congress is strong in the state and will contest the elections alone. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also said earlier that AAP will contest elections on 90 seats in Haryana.
Congress approved 34 names
During the CEC meeting, the names of 34 candidates for the Haryana assembly elections were finalised. According to PTI Bhasha, sources said that former chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda’s name is also included in the list approved on Monday. Congress’ Haryana in-charge Deepak Babaria said that the final list will be released by Wednesday. He said that the ongoing speculation about Vinesh Phogat contesting the elections will also come to an end by Tuesday.
Babaria said, ‘The Central Election Committee (CEC) for Haryana met today. A list of 49 names was presented by the state screening committee, of which 34 have been approved and 15 are pending.’
He said, ‘The names of 22 (current) MLAs have also been approved. The meeting will continue tomorrow (Tuesday) and it is expected that the final list will be announced the day after tomorrow.’ Babaria said that some names have been sent to the review committee and a decision will be taken on them by the committee on Tuesday. This committee includes the head of the Haryana unit of the Congress and the leader of the legislative party.
Babaria said the criteria for candidature is based on the winning chances of leaders whose names have appeared in the surveys and who have not lost elections more than twice.
