Junior doctors are protesting for several demands in the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. After Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee invited them, a delegation of junior doctors has reached the Chief Minister’s residence for a meeting to meet her. However, the doctors are adamant on live streaming the meeting, while the Chief Minister says that the video of the meeting will be recorded and given. Due to this, the meeting has not started yet. While talking to the delegation standing outside the residence, Mamata Banerjee said that when you did not have to come to the meeting, then why did you come here. Why are you insulting us like this?
During this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke to the junior doctors standing at the door of her residence. She said that all of you have been standing in the rain for two hours, I am waiting for all of you. The case is going on in the Supreme Court, so we cannot do live streaming. I assure you that whatever recording will be there, it will be given to you. Accept my request and join the meeting. If you people do not want to come to the meeting, then go inside and have tea… We will prepare the minutes of the meeting and give it to you. The recording will be given later.
The Chief Minister further told the junior doctors, “If you people did not want to come to the meeting, then why did you come? Why are you insulting us like this? This is not the first time this has happened. I have said earlier also that the recording cannot be given today… It is not possible to accept all your demands.”
