World Trigger Anime Reboot Announced

The World Trigger anime is officially getting a reboot. The announcement came through the series’ X account, which shared a new teaser visual and trailer for the project.

No further information has been revealed yet, including what the reboot will cover or how it may differ from the previous adaptation.

The original World Trigger manga by Daisuke Ashihara began in February 2013. Toei Animation’s anime adaptation ran from October 2014 to January 2022, totalling 99 episodes across three seasons.

The story follows the Border Defense Agency, a group created to protect Mikado City from sudden attacks by interdimensional beings known as Neighbors. Agents use advanced weapons called Triggers, and the series centres on Osamu Mikumo, a low-ranked agent who partners with Yuma Kuga, a humanoid Neighbor. Together, they train, climb Border’s ranks, and join the long-term mission to venture into the Neighbor world.

The original World Trigger anime is streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
