PlayStation first-party developer Santa Monica Studio has delayed its upcoming action game, God of War Laufey, to May. More specifically, the PlayStation 5-exclusive title will now launch on May 20, representing a roughly two-month delay from the original February 16 release date.
“Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we’ve been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye’s journey through the Everywhen,” a statement from the studio reads. “We don’t take for granted the trusted place in the studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans. With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to delay God of War Laufey’s release to May 20, 2027. We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential. On behalf of everyone on the team, we appreciate your patience and we’ll be back to share more updates soon.”
God of War Laufey stars Faye, Kratos’ deceased wife from his Norse adventures, after she ends up in the mysterious realm known as the Everywhen following her death. There, she will fight monsters and creatures from various mythologies alongside a talking gelatinous cube and a talking sword sash. We’ll have to wait a bit longer than expected now to see what her adventure entails.
God of War Laufey will now launch on PS5 next year on May 20. In the meantime, check out this newly revealed weapon, then read about how Amazon’s God of War TV series has recast Kratos as Dave Bautista.
