Himanta Biswa Sarma: After flood jihad, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has now raised questions on the structure of the private university. He said that its gate is like a symbol of jihad and one feels ashamed to enter it. Let us tell you that this private university, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) is built on the outskirts of Guwahati. This educational institution belongs to a Muslim of Bengali origin. Himanta even said that they are ruining education. Earlier, Sarma had blamed this university for flood jihad. He said that hills are being cut for the university campus. Due to this, floods are occurring here.
On Monday, Sarma further intensified his attack on this university. He said that three domes have been built above the main gate of the university. He said that it is shameful to go here because it seems as if we are going to Mecca. The CM of Assam said that we are saying that there should also be a place of worship here. He said that if you are building then build Mecca, Medina, Church, but they have built only Mecca. Sarma said that there should be a place of worship, church and Mecca, we will go to all three. Why should we go to only one? Let us tell you that this university has been established by the institute of Bengali Muslim Mahbubul Haque. He is a resident of Karimganj district of Barak Valley in Assam. Haque is also the Chancellor of the University.
When Himanta Sarma was asked why he was using the word jihad, he said that I am still being very lenient by calling it jihad. These people are doing the father of jihad. The entire education system is being ruined. Sarma said that the attack on our civilization, our culture is called jihad. On the other hand, Sarma’s political opponents say that he had inaugurated the new part of this university in the presence of Haq in the year 2021. Although the CM claims that he has definitely visited the university, but it was a program in which the then President Ram Nath Kovind had come.
Let us tell you that (USTM) has the biggest auditorium in this area. Due to this, people come here for all the big events. Sarma said that in return he is building an even bigger auditorium in Guwahati. He said that I went and I thought that if this auditorium remains here, then the people of Guwahati will bow down to that person for it. That is why I quietly started building an even bigger auditorium in Khanapara (Guwahati). We are going to inaugurate it by November or January. It will have 5000 seats and after this people will not need to go to USTM.
