Police have arrested Shahzad Ali, the main accused who was absconding after the attack on the police station in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. Shahzad Ali had reached the Kotwali police station with a crowd to protest against a comment made in Maharashtra on Prophet Mohammad Saheb and violence broke out during this. Many policemen were injured in stone pelting.
Shahzad was absconding since the violence. Several police teams were deployed to arrest him. It is being said that he has been caught with the help of local intelligence and technical surveillance. However, the police has not yet officially confirmed this.
Shahzad Ali, who was associated with the Congress party, is a prominent figure of the Muslim community in Chhatarpur. He has also been the Sadar in Chhatarpur. Expressing anger against the comment on Prophet Mohammad Saheb, he reached the police station with the crowd. The crowd demanded that an FIR be registered against the accused in Chhatarpur as well. When the police refused, the crowd became furious and attacked the police station.
The next day after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered strict action, the police-administration demolished Shahzad Ali’s new mansion worth crores of rupees with a bulldozer. The cars parked in the premises were also destroyed. Shahzad Ali released a video and tried to prove himself innocent.
Shahzad Ali had said that he had reached the police station with people demanding an FIR against the insult to the Prophet. In a video message, Shahzad had said that some anti-social elements started pelting stones and he had tried to stop them. Ali had also described himself as a social worker while demanding a fair investigation from the Chief Minister.
