On Wednesday evening, a youth from another community raped a teenager on a link road in Ghaziabad after assaulting her. He threatened to kill her when she protested. On complaint, the police arrested the main accused. Meanwhile, activists of a Hindu organization and some people protested at the police station, accusing the police of being lax in taking action. After this, they blocked the road and vandalized vehicles and set them on fire.
People angry with the incident created a ruckus and blocked the road outside Suryanagar police station. Additional CP Dinesh Kumar, DCP Trans Hindon Nimish Patil and many other officials reached the spot. However, people kept demanding that all the accused in the case be arrested and handed over to them. The ruckus continued from morning to evening. At eight o’clock in the night, people calmed down and moved away from the road. After this, talks continued between the protesting people and the officials till late night. According to the police, the victim lives with her family in a colony in Link Road police station area.
The crime was committed after entering the house. The girl’s brother told that on Wednesday evening around 5:30 pm, the accused Faizan, who belongs to another community and runs a junk shop near the house, entered their house with three of his friends. The accused started molesting his sister. When she protested, the accused beat her and raped her. At the time of the incident, the eight-year-old younger brother was around the house, while the other people were outside. When the victim raised an alarm, the three friends of the accused fled, seeing whom the people living nearby informed them. By the time he reached the spot with the family, Faizan also fled.
Sister found unconscious The victim’s brother said that when he reached home, he found his sister unconscious. Her condition was critical. The brother informed his father and lodged a complaint at Link Road police station. ACP Sahibabad Rajneesh Upadhyay said that a case was registered and Faizan was arrested. Efforts are being made to identify the other three accused.
Demand for arrest of all the accused
As soon as the information of the incident was received, many people including workers of Hindu Parivar Gaurakshak reached Link Road police station and created a ruckus. There was a ruckus over the arrest of one of the four accused. Also, they demanded the arrest of the other accused. The officials pacified them by explaining. After this, some people reached the shop of the accused near the girl’s house and vandalized it. The mob vandalized dozens of vehicles and set an e-rickshaw on fire. When the policemen arrived, they insisted on calling the District Magistrate to the spot. The protesters reached the nearby Suryanagar police post and blocked it. People created a ruckus by raising slogans on the road.

During this time the atmosphere became heated due to arson and vandalism. The officers tried to convince them, but they did not listen. Congress spokesperson Dolly Sharma tweeted and demanded strict action in the case. Women were among the people who reached Suryanagar Chowki. People protested with banners in their hands. It was written on the banner that hang the accused. Due to the protest, police from four nearby police stations had to be called. Only then the situation was brought under control. Due to the protest, there was a jam from Bridge Vihar culvert to Ramprastha apart from Suryanagar flyover. Due to heavy pressure of vehicles in the evening, people struggled with the jam for a long time. Later, when the ruckus ended, people got relief from the jam.

Even after the uproar in the morning, the officers remained unaware and did not even get a hint of the vandalism and arson. People living nearby said that the policemen did not reach the spot for a long time.
Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra had registered a case in the matter and arrested the accused. A report is being filed against those who vandalised, set fire and blocked the road. Action will be taken against them after identifying them through photos and videos.

When the students protested, the youths thrashed the student and her family members. The police is investigating. The victim said that at 11:15 pm, he was walking towards Raj Chowk with his family. On the way, three youths walking behind him molested his 17-year-old niece. When he protested, the youths thrashed him. The ACP said that in this matter a case has been registered against Ramandeep, Vansh and an unknown person.
