PM Narendra Modi has apologized for the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue in Maharashtra. PM Narendra Modi said that when BJP made me the PM candidate in 2013, I went to the Raigad fort. I prayed in front of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue. My prayer was with the same devotion as a devotee prays to God. Whatever happened in Sindhudurg recently, for me and all my colleagues, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a name. For us, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a statesman but a revered deity.
PM Modi said, ‘Today I bow my head and apologize to my idol Shivaji. I bow my head at his feet and apologize. Our values are different. We are not those people who keep abusing Veer Savarkar, the great son of Mother India.’ He said that after coming to Maharashtra, the first thing I am doing is to bow my head at the feet of Chhatrapati Shivaji and apologize. I also bow my head and apologize to him for the hurt caused to the hearts of the people who consider him their idol. Our values are different. Today is a historic day in the development journey of Maharashtra.
