A Pune businessman was murdered in front of his wife in Karnataka. The businessman lived in Hankon, a coastal village in Karwar district of Karnataka. His wife is also seriously injured in this incident that took place on Sunday. The deceased businessman has been identified as 58-year-old Vinayak Naik alias Raju. His wife has been identified as 50-year-old Vrashali Vinayak Naik. It is said that Vinayak used to run an electrical business in Pune. The police is investigating this case from the angle of family dispute and business rivalry. Apart from this, the possibility of underworld involvement has also not been ruled out.

Uttara Kannada district police said that several teams have been formed to nab the accused. A police officer said that Vinayak and Vrashali had come to attend the village temple fair on September 3. After this, they were going to return by car on Sunday. Vinayak had built a new house in his native village, about 15 km from Karwar district headquarters. According to the complaint filed by Vinayak Naik’s sister Shrutika Rane, her elder brother Madhav Kashinath Naik had come by train from Mumbai. Vinayak and his wife had come by their car.

Shrutika said that they had come to Karwar on the death anniversary of their mother Surekha Kashinath Naik. The family performed pooja on Saturday. After this, Shrutika returned to her in-laws’ house in Karwar. Vinayak and Vrashali said that they will leave for Pune on Sunday morning at 6 am. According to Shrutika, she called Vinayak, but he did not pick up the phone. After this, when she called Vrashali at around 5.45 in the morning, someone told her that Vinayak had died.

After this, Shrutika immediately informed her elder brother Madhav Naik about the incident and reached home. Vinayak died on the spot in the attack, while Vrashali was taken to a hospital in Karwar, where she is undergoing treatment. Investigation has revealed that Vinayak and Vrashali woke up at 5:15 in the morning. Some armed men entered the house and attacked them. When Vrashali screamed for help, the attackers fled from the spot. Chitkula police have registered a case in the matter.

Uttara Kannada SP M Narayan said that he has formed special teams for investigation. According to Indian Express, he said that there are many other houses around Vinayak’s house, but no one lives in them. The police got the information at 6:25 am and immediately left for the spot. Vrashali is an eyewitness in the case and her condition is not good right now. We have to gather information in the case right now.

The couple also has a son who studies in America. He is expected to reach Karnataka today. A police officer said that they are checking the details of Vinayak and Vrashali’s phone calls to find out who is behind the attack. There was no robbery in the house and the attackers fled after killing Vinayak. Apart from this, they did not kill Vrashali either. The police is investigating whether there is any business or family related dispute behind this. Apart from this, the possibility of Mumbai or coastal underworld being involved in the incident cannot be ruled out.
