India has raised the flag of its power in such a way that the whole world has been forced to accept its supremacy. In the Asia Power Index ranking released recently by Australia’s think tank Lowy Institute, India has made its place in the top three by defeating many powerful countries of the world. America and China dominate the geographical area of Asia. After these two countries, India has now emerged as the third biggest superpower. India has also left behind superpowers like Russia and Japan. With a score of 39.1 in this ranking, India has further strengthened its global position, while Japan has slipped to the fourth position with a score of 38.9. On the other hand, the condition of Pakistan seems even worse in this ranking.

Lowy’s report has revealed that the balance of power in Asia is still in the hands of America and China, but India’s emerging threat can change this situation. China’s economic and military growth continues, but its power has become stagnant. The report states that China’s power is neither increasing nor decreasing, but it is in a stable state. America still remains at the top in the parameters of six out of eight powers. Along with this, India’s position is improving and it has made its place in Asia at the third position, leaving behind Japan and Russia.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has attributed India’s rise in the Asia Power Index to the visionary leadership and global strategy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the report, in 2023, India participated in the highest diplomatic dialogue with the countries of the Asia Power Index. Which shows that India is active in strengthening its diplomatic position.
How India’s power is increasing
According to the Australian think tank, the main basis of India’s growing power is its huge population and rapidly developing economy. India’s economic potential has increased by 4.2 points in the report. Along with this, India’s score in terms of future resources has increased by 8.2 points. This means that India’s young population can provide a demographic advantage in the coming decades, which will make it even stronger economically and strategically.

The Lowy Institute report highlights the emerging contours of power in Asia. The report makes it clear that the US and China remain the major powers, but India has emerged as an important player. On the other hand, the position of neighbouring country Pakistan is unstable in this ranking. Pakistan’s number in the list is 14.4 and the neighbouring country is at 16th place.
