IPL Governing Council meeting today, decision on retention of players will be taken along with the date of mega auction.

When and where will the mega auction of IPL 2025 take place as well as how many players the franchises will be allowed to retain, these questions have been under discussion in the circles of cricket for many days. But the wait of the fans is about to end because the Governing Council meeting of IPL is to be held today i.e. on 28th September and all these issues will be discussed in this meeting. It is hoped that by the end of the day, fans will get answers to all these questions. Let us tell you, this year there is to be a mega auction of IPL 2025, which first allows the franchises to retain some players to maintain their core team.

According to Cricbuzz, the Governing Council meeting of IPL is to be held on Saturday (September 28). Sources told him that this meeting will be held at 6:30 pm at Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru.

The decision to call the meeting on Saturday was taken at the last moment as the notices for the meeting were sent to the members only on Friday evening. It is expected that the decisions taken can be announced immediately after the meeting.

Apart from deciding the number of player retentions, the meeting is also expected to decide on the date and venue of the mega auction. As of now, it is being said that the mega auction will take place in some Gulf city in late November. Saudi Arabia is also believed to be keen to host the auction and if the Governing Council gives approval, it could also be held in Riyadh.

There is speculation regarding retention that its number could be between 2 to 8. Whereas BCCI can agree on a number between 5-6 including RTM option.
