CM Siddaramaiah’s move worked, MUDA ready to take back 14 plots from wife; but the trouble continues

The opposition BJP has termed it a land scam, against which the Lokayukta police has registered a case against the Chief Minister and others. After this case, the Enforcement Directorate has also registered a case against CM Siddaramaiah on money laundering charges.

Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has given its consent to take back all the 14 plots from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati BM, the allocation of which has sparked a major political controversy in the state. The opposition BJP has termed it a land scam, against which the Lokayukta police has registered a case against the Chief Minister and others. After this case, the Enforcement Directorate has also registered a case against CM Siddaramaiah on money laundering charges.

The ED had on Monday registered a case against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 plots by MUDA to his wife. After this, on the same day, Parvati BM wrote a letter to MUDA requesting to return all the 14 allotted plots. To avoid ED action, Siddaramaiah’s wife has taken this step but this has not reduced the troubles of ED. ED may continue further investigation in this matter for now. This may increase Siddaramaiah’s problems.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Tuesday said the filing of a case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is an attack on the people of the state, vendetta politics and an attempt to destabilize the state government. Yes, but Congress and its Chief Minister are not going to bow down.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh told reporters, “This is an attack on the people of Karnataka. This is happening because the public did not give majority to BJP in the Karnataka Assembly elections. When they did not get enough MLAs (MLAs), they brought PMLA.

He alleged that from the first day the Congress government came to power in Karnataka, BJP is trying to destabilize the Karnataka government and this is also a step taken in this series. Ramesh claimed, “For the last two days, we have been witnessing politics of vengeance, harassment and intimidation in Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not yet been able to tolerate the crushing defeat of BJP in Karnataka. Politics of vengeance is being played, but we are not afraid.

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi said, “95 percent of the total political cases of ED are against the opposition only.” Talking about Maharashtra, the cases of all those who defected and broke the government are in cold storage. This list of BJP’s ‘washing machine’ is increasing at the all India level.
