Pay attention to your country; India bluntly criticizes US religious freedom report, calls it biased

India has strongly rejected the recent report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clearly said that this report is completely biased and motivated by political agenda. He reacted strongly to this and advised the Commission that it should focus on human rights issues in the US, rather than issuing a report based on false facts against India.

India’s strong reaction to the report

In response to questions asked by the media on the claims made about India in the USCIRF report, Jaiswal said, “Our opinion is clear on the commission’s report. It is a biased organization whose objective is to spread misinformation against India and We strongly reject this malicious report, which calls into question the credibility of USCIRF.”

Randhir Jaiswal further said that such repeated attempts by USCIRF only serve to defame the organization. He appealed to the Commission to address human rights-related problems within its own country, instead of interfering in India’s affairs.

Human rights challenges in America

India’s response also emphasized that organizations like USCIRF should pay attention to the human rights situation within the United States. It is noteworthy that in recent years, issues related to racial discrimination, police brutality, and other socio-economic inequalities have come to the fore in America. In such a situation, India has indicated that USCIRF should focus its energy on solving these domestic challenges, and not on preparing biased reports against other countries.

USCIRF report on India

USCIRF in its report has accused India of violating religious freedom. This report assesses the status of religious freedom in countries around the world every year. USCIRF has repeatedly described India as a country of concern in matters of religious freedom. However, India has always rejected these allegations and termed this report as a political agenda.

India’s strong position

India has always supported its religious diversity and tolerance and all religions have been given equal rights in the country. India also believes that organizations like USCIRF try to present a wrong image of India as part of their agenda. Jaiswal in his response made it clear that India will not accept such disinformation reports and advised USCIRF to desist from these biased efforts.
