Earlier it was estimated that the explosion could happen sometime in the month of September. Scientists believe that now that time is near. According to the American space agency NASA, the star T Corona Borealis explodes every 79 to 80 years. That means after this explosion it will again become silent for 80 years.
Why does explosion occur every 80 years?
T Corona Borealis is bound to a binary system. In such a system there is a giant star and a white dwarf star. In the current case the larger star is dumping its material onto the surface of the white dwarf. Both are revolving very close to each other, hence due to material dump the temperature of the dwarf star is increasing. According to the report, if the temperature increases too much, thermonuclear explosion will start. Eventually the white dwarf star will expel all the material into space and become much brighter.
Scientists have made preparations to see this sight. They have planned to collect data from telescopes operating from ground and space. This star is being monitored by NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. Scientists are taking updates every hour. He wants to see what effect this explosion will have on the rays floating in our space.
