Smartphone Shipments Increase 3 Percent in India, Samsung Retains First Rank

Smartphone shipments in India grew by nearly three percent on a year-on-year basis in the third quarter of this year. However, the value of smartphones has increased by about 12 percent in the third quarter. South Korea’s Samsung continues to hold the first rank in this market with about 23 percent share.

Market research firm Counterpoint’s monthly smartphone tracker Report According to , the volume of smartphones in the country has increased by about three percent on a year-on-year basis in the third quarter of the current year. However, the value of shipments of smartphones has increased by about 12 percent and has reached a record level in a quarter. Similar to previous quarters, Samsung continues to hold the first position in this market with about 23 percent share. Samsung has added Galaxy AI to its mid-range and A series of affordable premium smartphones. This has helped the company in increasing sales.

iPhone maker Apple ranks second in the smartphone market with 21.6 percent share. Before the festive season in the country, the company has benefited from high demand for iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series smartphones. Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is in third place with about 15.5 percent market share. After this there are China’s Oppo and Xiaomi. Oppo took the fourth position with a share of about 10.8 percent and Xiaomi took the fifth position with 8.7 percent. It has been told in this report that due to increase in demand for premium smartphones, this market has grown in terms of value. Along with this, the early start of the festive season has contributed to the volume growth.

However, Vivo has regained the first position in this market in terms of volume with about 19 percent share. After this, Xiaomi is in second place with about 17 percent share. Samsung Oppo and Realme are at third, fourth and fifth positions respectively. It has been told in this report that Motorola has registered a growth of about 87 percent on year-on-year basis in the last quarter. The share of 5G smartphones in total smartphone shipments has increased to about 81 percent for the first time.
