Sunita Williams will celebrate Thanksgiving in space 400km above the earth

Indian-origin NASA astronaut Sunita Williams reached the Space Station (ISS) in June this year. There is a malfunction in their spacecraft, due to which Sunita and her partner Butch Wilmore are stuck there. Sunita is now also enjoying her journey in space. She is going to celebrate Thanksgiving on ISS. Thanksgiving is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of November in America, which is a day of gratitude for blessings and harvest. Sunita is ready to celebrate Thanksgiving in space with ‘smoked turkey, mashed potatoes’.

News reports According to, on Wednesday Nasa shared a video related to him. In this, Sunita is saying that our crew wants to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and family members present on earth and to the people who support us.

Astronauts have reported that NASA has provided them with food items such as butternut squash, apples, sardines and smoked turkey for Thanksgiving. Apparently the astronauts are in for a wonderful feast.

Sunita is on ISS since June

NASA and Boeing launched the Starliner spacecraft in June. That was Boeing’s first manned mission. Two astronauts – Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore – boarded the spacecraft and reached the ISS. However, after reaching the ISS, the Starliner started having problems and Sunita and Butch had to stay there.

NASA has told that Sunita and Butch will now return to Earth with the Crew-9 mission. This mission has reached the ISS and may return to Earth in February or March next year. This means that Sunita and Butch will return to Earth only by February or March 2025.
