India’s I4C has blocked 1700 Skype ID 59000 WhatsApp Accounts to prevent Cyber ​​Fraud

Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (I4C) has played a very important role in prevention of digital fraud. As of November 15, 2024, I4C has blocked more than 1,700 Skype IDs and more than 59 thousand WhatsApp accounts related to fraudulent activity. These actions are taken as part of the achievements of the Citizen Financial Cyber ​​Fraud Reporting and Management System launched under I4C in 2021. This system has been helpful in preventing financial loss of more than Rs 3,431 crore by effectively managing more than 9.94 lakh complaints. To prevent digital fraud, 1,700 Skype IDs and 59 thousand WhatsApp accounts were blocked. I4C’s monitoring led to the identification and subsequent blocking of fraudulent accounts on various digital platforms.

More than 1,700 Skype IDs were used by fraudsters for impersonation and scams. At the same time, more than 59 thousand WhatsApp accounts were used for phishing, hiding identity and financial fraud. These steps by the government have reduced the reach of cybercriminals to a great extent, preventing them from causing harm to unsuspecting victims.
