The cost of running this motorcycle is 50 percent less than that of petrol-powered motorcycles. More than 35,000 units of the Freedom 125 have been sold since its launch. However, the company has not given the reason for reducing its price. The price of its entry-level variant Drum has been reduced by approximately Rs 5,000. The company has reduced the price of Drum LED variant of Freedom 125 the most by about Rs 10,000.
The range of Freedom 125 is about 330 kilometers. It has a two kilogram CNG tank and a two liter petrol tank. Its CNG tank is under the seat. It will be available in three variants of Drum, Drum LED and Disc LED and seven dual-tone colors. The cost of running a petrol-powered two-wheeler is around Rs 2.25 per kilometre, whereas for CNG it is only Rs 1 per kilometre. On its launch, Rajeev Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, had said, “It will provide freedom from oil imports, range stress, apprehensions over charging, emissions and boring designs of commuter bikes.” The company also has Chetak electric scooter.
This year Bajaj Auto can also introduce 400 cc single cylinder Pulsar. The company’s Chetak electric scooter is also getting good response from customers. Recently a new variant of Chetak electric scooter was launched. It is being called Chetak 2901. Its price is Rs 95,998 (ex-showroom). It has been made available in White, Lime Yellow, Azure Blue, Red and Black colors. Its ARAI range is more than 120 kilometers. Customers purchasing it also have the option to upgrade its features with TecPac. Sales of electric two-wheelers have increased rapidly in the last few years.
