Neither the district administration nor the Municipal Corporation is aware of the change of name of the Chowk. An organization named Giriraj Singh Fans Club has demanded the Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation to rename Kalambagh Chowk as Giriraj Chowk. Giriraj Singh, a resident of Barhiya area of Lakhisarai district, has the image of a staunch Hindu leader.
According to the information received, a board of Giriraj Chowk has suddenly been put up near the famous Kalambagh Chowk of the city. Giriraj Singh Fans Club has claimed to have put up this board. On Thursday, a board of Giriraj Chowk was suddenly put up at the turn ahead of Kalambagh Chowk. People passing by started discussing when this square has been named Giriraj Chowk. No official announcement has been made to change the name of the square. Here, the district administration has denied any such information. The administration has said that appropriate action will be taken in the matter after investigating it.
Regarding the installation of the board of Giriraj Chowk, SDO East Amit Kumar said that the matter has not come to his notice. He said that some mischievous element has done this. On the other hand, Devanshu Kishore, the patron of Giriraj Singh Fans Club, has said that Giriraj Singh is the emperor of Hindu hearts, so the local people have named the square as Giriraj Chowk. Kishore said that the local people will request the Municipal Corporation Board to take appropriate steps to name this square as Giriraj Chowk.
