Three students died on Saturday due to water logging in the basement of Rau IAS Study Circle located in Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi. After the incident, the negligence of many departments has come to light, which could have prevented this accident if they had taken timely action. Now a video has surfaced in which it can be seen that the gate of the coaching institute was broken during the rains last year as well. This year also the same gate broke due to which the basement got flooded and this became the death knell for the students.

It can be seen in the video that the main gate of the coaching center is broken, due to which water is filling the premises. It is being told that this video is of July 9, 2023 and it was shot by a student of the coaching center. It is seen in the video that the broken gate is not closing, due to which the basement area is filled with water. During this, the employees of the coaching center can be seen making tireless efforts to prevent water from entering the premises by holding the gate with their hands.

According to India Today’s report, a student said, ‘This video of last year clearly shows that the gate problem was not a new thing. If the authorities knew about this, why did they not take preventive measures in advance?’ Let us tell you that in Saturday’s incident, 25-year-old Tanya Soni, 25-year-old Shreya Yadav and 28-year-old Nelvin Delvin, who were preparing for the UPSC exam, died. The gate broke and rainwater filled the basement within a few minutes and they did not get a chance to get out.

Initially, the iron gate at the entry of the coaching centre was preventing the flood water from entering the basement. But, a speeding SUV car passed by and the gate broke due to the pressure of the waves, due to which the basement got flooded. Police have arrested five accused in this case – four co-owners of the basement of the coaching centre located in Rajinder Nagar, Tejinder Singh, Parvinder Singh, Harvinder Singh and Sarabjit Singh. Apart from this, the car driver Manoj Kathuria has also been arrested.
