On the other hand, 16 percent more rainfall than normal was recorded in August. More rainfall than expected was recorded in the month of August. The Meteorological Department had predicted rain for 10 to 14 days in August. However, the rain was even more kind than that. Clouds rained heavily not only in North India but also in the South.

In the monsoon season which runs from June to September, the maximum rainfall is happening in the months of July and August. In the month of June, the monsoon was intermittent and the possibility of drought was visible. Talking about last year, in the month of July, there was 13 percent more rainfall than normal but there was drought in August. Famous meteorologist M Rajeevan said that due to Madden Julian Oscillation, the monsoon gained momentum in India this time.

American agencies said that this time there will be the effect of La Nina. La Nina causes more rainfall. The weather department has predicted that there will be good rainfall for the next two weeks. There is a low pressure area over Saurashtra and Kutch due to which there is heavy rainfall in Gujarat. There is a possibility of a storm forming in the Arabian Sea.

Light to moderate rains may also occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, eastern Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. Light rains are expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, eastern Uttar Pradesh.
