NASA Rover Captures Google Eye Eclipse On Mars Watch video

NASA’s Perseverance rover, which is an exploration spacecraft, has been traveling on Mars for a long time. It is also searching for life on the rocky and sand-filled surface of Mars. Recently, the rover captured a strange sight on camera while roaming on Mars.

Perseverance Rover, while roaming on Mars, saw an amazing sight in the sky and captured it in its camera. Actually, a partial solar eclipse was occurring on Mars at that time. During this time, Mars’ satellite i.e. Moon Phobos came between the Sun and Mars. So that it took the shape of an eye. NASA named it Googly Eye. This moon of Mars is shaped like a potato which passed in front of the Sun. Because it was facing the Sun it was casting a shadow on it and looked like a Googly Eye.

The Perseverance rover captured it with a camera called Mastcam-Z. According to NASA, this was the Perseverance Rover’s 1258th day on Mars. NASA has shared this amazing photo with its X handle. According to NASA, this sight was as if someone was watching us from space. The Perseverance rover landed in Jezero Crater of Mars in 2021. Since then it has captured many photos of Phobos Moon in this crater. The Curiosity Rover captured a video of Phobos in 2019. The Opportunity rover captured a similar scene in 2004.

Let us tell you about Phobos that it was discovered by Asaph Hall in 1877. It is much larger than Mars’ other moon Deimos. Its diameter is 27x22x18 kilometers. It makes three revolutions during the day of Mars. It is present very close to its surface. Often some places on the surface of Mars remain hidden due to its presence. Its being so close indicates that it will collide with the planet one day. It is coming 6 feet closer to the planet in 100 years. In 50 million years it will either collide with the planet, or break into a ring.
