Acer Smartphones to come in India Under Rs 50,000 as Indkal Technologies Signs Licensing Deal more details

Acer branded smartphones are also going to be launched in India soon. Another firm has joined hands with the company. Bangalore-based Indkal Technologies has partnered with Acer. Indkal Technologies has signed a licensing agreement with Acer under which this startup will launch Acer smartphones in India. Although Acer smartphones were launched in India once before, but soon the company’s smartphone business closed here. Now once again these smartphones are going to be seen in the Indian market.

Indkal recently raised a fund of $36 million (about Rs 300 crore) through Mauritius-based Aries Opportunities Fund. Now the company has struck a deal with Taiwanese electronic company Acer. Under the deal, Indkal will design, manufacture and distribute these smartphones. That is, the name will be of Acer and the smartphones will be manufactured by Indkal. These smartphones will be launched in the range of Rs 15 thousand to Rs 50 thousand.

The company is going to compete with brands like Oppo, Vivo, Tecno, and OnePlus. At the same time, dominant players like Xiaomi and Samsung are already present in the segment. All these companies have been introducing their smartphones in this range in the Indian market, so Indkal and Acer will have to compete fiercely with them. Because all these companies already have a strong hold in the Indian market. Zed Zhou, Vice President of Global Strategic Alliances of Acer Inc. said that he is excited by this move of Indkal Technologies. The company will launch a large range of smartphones in the Indian market under the Acer brand.

These smartphones will be manufactured in India itself, which will be done under the Make in India initiative. Advanced software technology will be used in these. Indkal says that it has a target of manufacturing 1 lakh units per year. The company is also applying for the Smartphone Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. Acer branded smartphones will be made available for purchase on all major e-commerce platforms in India. They will also be sold at offline retail stores.
