Ampere Electric Scooter Maker Greaves Electric Mobility Preparing to Launch IPO

Sales of Electric Vehicles (EV) have increased rapidly in the last few years. Recently, electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric has been listed in the stock market. Some other companies in this segment are also planning to launch Initial Public Offering (IPO). Competition is increasing in the market of electric two-wheelers.

Greaves Electric Mobility, maker of Ampere electric scooter, has filed documents to launch an IPO. Greaves Electric Mobility plans to raise around Rs 10 billion through a stock market listing. In this, the company’s largest shareholder Greaves Cotton will also sell a large number of shares. Greaves Electric Mobility plans to use the funds from the IPO to build battery assembly capacity, expand manufacturing and research and development.

A few months ago, Greaves Electric Mobility launched the Ampere Nexus electric scooter. The starting price of this electric scooter is Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the company’s first high performance electric scooter. Ampere Nexus has a 3 kWh battery. Its range on a single charge is claimed to be around 136 kilometers. The battery of this electric scooter can be charged in about three and a half hours. It competes with Ola Electric’s S1 Air, TVS Motor’s iQube and Ather 450S. This electric scooter has a PMS motor. Four ride modes are available in it. Its top speed in City mode is claimed to be 93 kmph. Last year, Greaves Electric Mobility introduced the Primus RCB Edition electric scooter to mark its association with the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The chassis of this electric scooter is up to four times stronger with a load stratified design. It has a slender frame and a flat floorboard. The Nexus electric scooter has a diamond-cut LED headlamp. It has a large seat and aluminum grab handle. Its base version has a 6.2 inch LCD screen.
