The company had earlier informed about plans to invest about one crore dollars. This included setting up a factory to make iPhone accessories and components. This factory was to be set up in Bandung city, southeast of Indonesia’s capital Jakarta. Last month, Indonesia’s Industry Ministry had banned the sale of iPhone 16. The ministry had asked Apple to change its investment plan and put more emphasis on research and development for its smartphones. After this, Apple had given a proposal to increase investment.
In this regard, the Indonesian government says that the company has not fulfilled the requirement of 40 percent local content for smartphones and tablets. Indonesia had also banned the sale of Google’s Pixel smartphones due to lack of investment. Apple’s iPhone 15 has been the best-selling smartphone in the third quarter of this year. Apple holds the first three positions in the list of best selling smartphones. The company’s sales are increasing rapidly in India also. South Korean smartphone maker Samsung has secured the maximum positions in this list. Samsung’s Galaxy S devices have made it into the top 10 best-selling smartphones for the first time in six years. This is the first time that the share of Pro variants in the total sales of iPhone has been almost half.
