Apple Preparing to Launch Triple-Fold iPhone, Patent Gives Indication

American devices maker Apple plans to bring a foldable smartphone. For this, the company has filed some patent applications. However, the launch date of this smartphone is not known. Recently, Apple has updated an old patent. This patent may be for a tri-fold smartphone.

This patent has been filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Patents The title of the patent is ‘Electronics Devices with Display and Touch Sensor Structures’. Earlier, touch sensor structures were shown inside the display but Apple has increased the scope of this patent by making many changes in it. Patently Apple has seen this patent. In this, an outer display has been added with a large internal display panel. This patent also has another display panel along with the outer display. The new structure of this smartphone is indicating a triple fold design.

This is similar to Chinese electronics company Huawei’s recently launched triple fold smartphone Mate XT, in which the central layer is hidden in the folded state. Its outer display is visible in both folded and unfolded states. This patent application of Apple states that the technology will add touch sensor structures to each display wall and each display will collect and process touch input separately. Last month, a report said that a clamshell-style foldable smartphone could be launched with Apple’s iPhone 18 series. It could be a hybrid model of iPad and MacBook. It can have an 18.8-inch screen when unfolded.

Huawei’s Mate XT has a screen size of 10.2 inches (3,184 x 2,232 pixels) when unfolded. The smartphone’s flexible LTPO OLED screen measures 7.9 inches (2,048 x 2,232 pixels) when folded once and 6.4 inches (1,008 x 2,232 pixels) when folded a second time. On the outside, it has a 50-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an aperture between f/1.2 and f/4.0. The smartphone also has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5.5x optical zoom and f/3.4 aperture.
