Apple Supplier Jabil to Set Up Electronics Manufacturing Plant in Tamil Nadu, Rs 2,000 Crore Will be Invested

Jabil, a supplier of Apple which makes the world famous iPhone, has planned to set up an electronics manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. An agreement has been made with the state government for this. An investment of Rs 2,000 crore will be made in this plant. This will create about 5,000 employment opportunities.

This agreement has been signed during the visit of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to the US. The state government has signed agreements with American companies involving investments worth more than Rs 2,600 crore. Jabil, which provides electronics manufacturing services and solutions, has big companies like Apple, Cisco, HP and Dell among its clients. It has manufacturing units in India, Malaysia, Singapore, the US, Mexico and China.

Apart from this, the state government has also signed an agreement with Rockwell Automation, one of the major companies in industrial automation and digital transformation. Apple’s iPhone 16 series of premium smartphones, launched earlier this week, can be assembled in the country for the first time. Apple has planned to shift a large part of its manufacturing in China. Under this plan, the manufacturing of the company’s smartphones can be increased in India.

Apple has started training workers in its factories on a new manufacturing process. The company started manufacturing in the country in 2017 with the iPhone SE. After this, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 were also made in the country. According to a Bloomberg report, the manufacturing of iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be important for Apple. This will be the first time that the company will manufacture its iPhone Pro models outside China. In China, these smartphones are manufactured by Apple’s contract manufacturers Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus of the iPhone 15 series introduced last year were also manufactured in India. In recent years, Apple has increased its manufacturing outside China.
