‘Attempt to hide the truth’; Mamata Banerjee takes to the streets for the rape victim, demands hanging of the accused

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday led a protest rally from Moulali to Dorina Square in Kolkata, demanding justice for the Kolkata woman doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at a government college and hospital last week. In this rally, Mamata said that efforts are being made to hide the truth by spreading fake news on social media, people have to avoid this lie. During this, thousands of Trinamool Congress workers and MPs accompanying the Chief Minister raised slogans demanding death penalty for the accused. Even before this rally, Mamata has given an ultimatum to the CBI to complete the investigation soon and hang the accused.

In the rally, Mamta Banerjee held BJP and CPM responsible for the vandalism in the hospital and said that the nexus between these two should be exposed, I salute the courage shown by the public and doctors against their goons. Mamta said that our government wants the truth to come out but lies are being spread to mislead people. We need to avoid lies. Earlier, when the investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI, Mamta had given an ultimatum saying that the accused should be hanged as soon as possible.

BJP and CPM’s protest continues, top leaders taken into custody

BJP women workers protested outside RG Kar Hospital, during which they had to face the police. BJP leader Roopa Ganguly was taken into custody by the police. Along with this, the BJP Mahila Morcha has also announced a candle march this evening. Apart from this, another opposition party of the state, CPM, had announced a day of condemnation in the entire state, demanding the resignation of the Health Minister and Home Minister.

A trainee doctor pursuing PG at RG Kar Medical College was allegedly raped and murdered in the seminar room of the college hospital on August 9. The next day, a man working in the same hospital was arrested in the case. On Thursday, a group of about 40 people barged into the hospital and vandalised the emergency department, nursing unit and medical store. According to a PTI report, the mob also vandalised a part of the seminar hall where the doctor was raped and murdered. The mob also vandalised the stage where junior doctors were protesting against the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor and demanding security at their workplace. The police took action and arrested about 25 people involved in this attack.

Additional Commissioner of West Bengal Police Muralidhar Sharma said that during interrogation, everyone repeated the same thing that they all had come here on their own will. But we cannot rule out the possibility of a conspiracy. We are investigating it from every angle.
